Leukoderma

Leukoderma, another name for vitiligo, is a skin condition in which a person has smooth, white spots in various places on the body. This disease is an autoimmune condition that can occur on both sides of the body, just one side of the body or particularly in one area of the body. Today, it’s the most common skin depigmenting condition, experienced by about 0.5 percent of the population. While it is typically believed to be genetic, its symptoms may be exacerbated by sun exposure.

If you’re interested in potential treatments for leukoderma or vitiligo, contact our Dallas-based dermatology office. One treatment we offer is XTRAC, a targeted laser therapy that pinpoints damaged areas of skin and treats them with UVB light. After 10 to 12 of these painless, quick treatment sessions, most patients see a reduction of symptoms. Learn more about the procedure at XtracClear.com. We’ll be happy to explain more about this to you when you call our office! Contact us today.
